Two Peruvian nationals responsible for operating a series of call centers in Peru that defrauded Spanish-speaking U.S. residents by falsely threatening them with arrest, deportation and other legal consequences pleaded guilty to federal charges in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A convicted felon charged as the result of a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and Providence Police Department Project Safe Neighborhoods firearm and drug trafficking investigation today pleaded guilty to federal firearm and drug charges in U.S. District Court, announced Acting United States Attorney Richard B. The Justice Department announced today it has reached an agreement with the Town of Wolcott, Connecticut, to settle a lawsuit alleging that the Town violated the Fair Housing Act when it refused to allow the operation of a group home for adults with disabilities in a residential neighborhood.
