FALLS CHURCH, Va. – Chiefs and Directors are an essential part of Navy Medicine and have long represented the upper tiers of corps leadership. By why do some staff corps have a Director and others a Chief? And if there is a distinction between these titles, why are they often collectively referred to as “Corps Chiefs”? The following is short history of these terms and a reference guide for usage.

Senior enlisted leaders, manning representatives from across the Navy and detailers will attend a virtual manning summit Feb. 28-March 4 to identify critical Navy leadership gaps and fill them with Chief Petty Officers (CPOs) who are aligned to billets below their current paygrades, are in pure excess onboard their current command, or where their leadership and expertise may be needed. The event will be hosted by Navy Personnel Command (NPC).

Security News in Brief: Omaha Railcar Cleaning Company and its Owners Sentenced for Violating Environmental and Worker Safety Laws Resulting in Workers’ 2015 Deaths

Steven Michael Braithwaite, Adam Thomas Braithwaite and their company Nebraska Railcar Cleaning Services LLC (NRCS) were sentenced today in Omaha, Nebraska, for willful violations of worker safety standards that resulted in two worker deaths, knowing violations of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) involving hazardous waste and knowing endangerment to others, knowing submission of false documents to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and perjury. Steven Braithwaite will serve 30 months in prison and pay $100,000 in restitution for his role in the offenses.
