FBI Dallas Opens Contract Linguist Virtual Information Session to Dallas-Fort Worth Applicants

What does a contract linguist do?

  • Translates foreign documents and/or audio into or from English. 
  • Interprets for investigations and interviews.
  • Contributes valuable knowledge of foreign languages and cultures to support FBI investigations.

Qualifications and requirements: 

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and have lived in the U.S. for 3 of the past 5 years, unless serving outside the U.S. as a federal employee or the dependent of a federal employee.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to obtain a top secret clearance.
  • Must be available to work 20 hours per week within one of the FBI’s spaces.
  • Must be able to pass the FBI’s foreign language test battery, including listening, reading, translating, and speaking tests.
  • Must meet the FBI’s general employment requirements.
