A Los Angeles man was sentenced today to 14 years in prison for leading a conspiracy involving the distribution of wholesale quantities of synthetic cannabinoids—commonly known as “spice” or “K2”—and laundering millions of dollars in the proceeds of the sale of that spice.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A Pawtucket man previously convicted and incarcerated in Massachusetts and Rhode Island on drug trafficking charges has been ordered detained in federal custody in Rhode Island on charges that he delivered methamphetamine and cocaine laced with fentanyl on at least three occasions while under surveillance by members of the FBI’s Rhode Island Safe Streets Gang Task Force, announced United States Attorney Zachary A. Cunha.

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Marshall Eugene Popp, age 31, formerly of Moline, was sentenced on February 28, 2022, to 36 months in prison for Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Following his imprisonment, Popp was ordered to serve three years of supervised release. Popp was also assessed a $100 Special Assessment fee payable to the Crime Victims’ Fund.

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Justin Treanton, age 37, of Bettendorf, was sentenced on February 28, 2022, to 30 years in federal prison for the production of child pornography and 20 years in prison for the possession of child pornography, with the sentences run consecutively for a total of 50 years in federal prison. After serving his prison sentence, Treanton will be under federal supervised release for the rest of his life and required to register as a sex offender.

Acting U.S. Attorney Michelle M. Baeppler announced that a federal jury returned guilty verdicts on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, against Defendant Brandon J. Sharp, 34, of Lorain, Ohio, following a three-day trial before U.S. District Judge Donald C. Nugent in Cleveland.
