SAN DIEGO – Ten Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) and Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific-mentored high school robotics teams joined students from across Southern California and Hawaii to compete at the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics Competition (FRC) San Diego Regional Tournament presented by Qualcomm March 18-22 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in San Diego, Calif.

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION CHERRY POINT, N.C. – The Naval Air Systems Command has named Angela Bell, VH-92 Presidential Helicopter Fleet Support Team lead engineer, as Fleet Readiness Center East’s Mentor of the Year. Ms. Bell was honored for her strong support of mentorship and her willingness to share her experience with others.

ROYAL AUSTRALIAN AIR FORCE BASE EDINBURGH, Australia – A U.S. Navy P-8A from Patrol Squadron 47 (VP-47) and one KC-30A from Royal Australian Air Force No. 33 Squadron (RAAF 33) conducted the first ever operational Air-To-Air Refueling (AAR) between a U.S. Navy P-8A and a RAAF KC-30A on March 20.

NAVAL STATION NORFOLK — President George H.W. Bush’s post-presidency chief of staff Jean Becker and Commander, Naval Air Forces Vice Adm. Kenneth Whitesell visited the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) on March 21, 2022. The visit to the ship followed a local gala celebrating the Centennial of U.S. Navy Aircraft carriers the evening prior.

United States Attorney Dennis R. Holmes announced that a Rosebud, South Dakota, man convicted of Assault With a Dangerous Weapon was sentenced on March 22, 2022, by Chief Judge Roberto A. Lange, U.S. District Court.
Mason Drew Reddy, age 26, was sentenced to 40 months in federal prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release, and a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $100.
Reddy was indicted by a federal grand jury on January 12, 2021. He pled guilty on November 15, 2021.
The conviction stemmed from an incident that occurred on the evening of December 4, 2020, in Rosebud, South Dakota. On that date, Reddy went to the victim’s residence and asked the victim to join him in a fight or confrontation down the street. When the victim refused, Reddy assaulted the victim with a sharp instrument, inflicting a deep laceration on the victim’s neck.
This case was investigated by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Albertson prosecuted the case.
Reddy was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
