Amphibious dock landing ship USS Germantown (LSD 42) arrived in San Diego Oct. 15, after a decade of forward-deployed service in the Indo-Pacific region operating out of Japan. As part of the U.S. 7th Fleet’s Forward-Deployed Naval Forces in Japan, Germantown worked alongside allied and partner nations to provide security and stability in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific.

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION CHERY POINT, N.C. – Recent equipment acquisitions in the Precision Measurement Center (PMC) – a component of the Advanced Measurement Services and Reverse Engineering Labs (AMSREL) Division of the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Engineering Department at Fleet Readiness Center East (FRCE) – will allow the program to perform these precise measurements more efficiently. A new optical comparator and laser trackers allow mechanical engineering technicians to more easily assess items small and large, including aircraft components, support fixtures and more – improvements that will help FRCE continue to improve product quality and drive down turnaround times.

RCBs can execute a variety of operations across all phases of military operations, including port security, troop insertion or extraction, inland counter-insurgency operations, organic air and fire support, organic unmanned aerial vehicle support, maritime interdiction, and command and control.

The Countermine System (GBU-61) is an air delivered weapon with the same form, fit and mass of a BLU-109 2,000-pound bomb. The GBU-61 warhead will contain a payload of packaged darts that function as penetrating neutralizers, designed to pierce the mine casing to affect the kill.
