NAVAL STATION NORFOLK, Va. – The San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Arlington (LPD 24) departed Naval Station Norfolk to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to Haiti in support of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) led mission, Aug. 17.

For the first time in 17 months, joyful cheers echoed through Midway Ceremonial Drill Hall at Recruit Training Command (RTC). RTC resumed boot camp graduation Aug. 13, for a limited number of family members and friends. Guest attendance was suspended in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to prevent any potential spread of COVID-19 to recruits, staff and their families.

WASHINGTON – Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) awarded a $1.7-billion construction project Aug. 13 to expand and reconfigure a dry dock complex at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNSY) in Kittery, Maine, to increase the shipyard’s capacity to maintain, modernize, and repair the Navy’s attack submarines and return them to the fleet on time.
