Security News in Brief: Used Motor Vehicle Dealers Sentenced in Odometer Tampering Scheme

Yesterday, in federal court in Brooklyn, Shmuel Gali was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Kiyo A. Matsumoto to 60 months’ imprisonment for his role in a long-running odometer tampering and money laundering scheme and ordered to pay $3,936,000 in restitution. The defendant pleaded guilty in August 2020 to conspiracy to commit money laundering, conspiracy to commit odometer tampering, making false odometer statements and securities fraud.

Defense News in Brief: GE parts reclamation program saves time, money for FRCE engine lines

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION CHERRY POINT, N.C. – FRCE has recently engaged in a parts reclamation program offered by GE Aviation, the manufacturer of the T64 and F404 engines that power the H-53 and F/A-18 aircraft, respectively. Under this program, the company will take worn components back to its plant in lots of 35,000 pounds to be demilitarized and recycled. As an added bonus, Naval Air Systems Command receives a credit for the amount of materials, which can be used toward other T64 or F404 components.
