The FBI Atlanta Cyber Task Force gathered evidence that showed Dobbins was behind the hack. He pleaded guilty to computer intrusion charges in July 2020 and was sentenced to one year in prison in October 2020.

“Given the pandemic, it was especially urgent that we figure out what happened and ensure there was no continuing compromise,” Coffin said. “We also wanted to make a statement that the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office are going to investigate and prosecute these types of crimes.”

In this case, like so many cyber cases the FBI investigates, a collaborative relationship with the victim company was key to success.

“In computer intrusion cases, the crime scenes are the systems in these companies’ offices, and we need their assistance to process that in a way it’s admissible in court,” Coffin said. “The FBI works very hard to proactively establish trust with companies, so when these types of things occur, we can quickly figure out what happened, and they can move forward.”

The FBI is releasing information about a robbery of an armored car courier today, January 8, 2020, in North Miami Beach, Florida, at approximately 4 p.m. as the armored car courier was servicing an ATM at the rear of a Wells Fargo bank branch located at 147th Street and Biscayne Boulevard.

While the ATM was being serviced, a robber drove up near the ATM (in a blue Honda Civic), exited his vehicle, and approached the courier.  After an exchange of words, the robber grabbed a cartridge containing money.  In the ensuing moments, the courier fired his weapon at the robber.  It is unknown if the robber was struck.  The robber re-entered his vehicle (driver) and left the area.  The amount of money taken will not be disclosed at this time.

The FBI is seeking information about a bank robbery that took place on December 29, 2020, at approximately 1:30 p.m. at a Chase Bank branch located at 2701 S University Drive, Davie, FL 33076.

A robber entered the bank and demanded money from a bank employee. There were no injuries. The amount of money taken will not be released at this time.

MIAMI—SAC George L. Piro presented Mr. Daniel Puder with the FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award during a ceremony held at the FBI Miami’s main office on Monday, December 14, 2020. The award recognizes Puder’s work as the founder of the My Life My Power, Inc. (MLMP) Prep Academy School System that focuses on the emotional, belief, and physiological intelligence of 180 students from 6-12 grades who were expelled from traditional public schools.

In light of health and travel concerns related to COVID-19, the annual ceremony celebrating the Director’s Community Leadership Awards (DCLA) at FBI Headquarters was canceled this year.

Puder’s students are educated through a life-based curriculum developed by MLMP and accredited through Nova Southeastern University’s “Experiential Course.” MLMP’s goal is to find solutions that will enable these students to fulfill their educational requirements.

Additionally, Mr. Puder has demonstrated a willingness to work with law enforcement to not only enrich the lives of his students, but also to bridge the gap between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.

“Daniel Puder is an innovative, solution-oriented community leader who, through his school, is giving kids a second chance at receiving a quality education,” said George L. Piro, special agent in charge, FBI Miami. “May his example lead the way for others looking to improve their own communities.”

Each year, the Director’s Community Leadership Award recognizes leaders from around the country who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to their local communities through service. The FBI is grateful for the work of each of these individuals and organizations.

JACKSONVILLE, FL—The FBI Jacksonville Field Office has taken Jesus Rivera of Pensacola, Florida, into custody for his role in the riot and assault on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia has charged Rivera with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority; knowingly, with intent to impede government business or official functions, engaging in disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds; engaging in disorderly or disruptive conduct on capitol buildings or grounds; and parading, demonstrating, or picketing in the Capitol buildings. Rivera was arrested in Pensacola without incident on Wednesday, January 20 by special agents from the FBI Jacksonville Pensacola Resident Agency in coordination with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

“The FBI respects the rights of individuals to peacefully exercise their First Amendment rights, but we will not tolerate those who seek to incite violence or wreak havoc on our established institutions,” said Rachel L. Rojas, special agent in charge of the FBI Jacksonville Division. “We will continue to hold accountable those who were responsible the violent actions at the U.S. Capitol, and coordinate with our federal, state, and local partners to ensure safety in all North Florida communities in the future.
