NORFOLK, Va. – Sailors taking their own lives through suicide is one of the United States Navy’s top three causes of death annually. Many Sailors who have suicidal thoughts or struggles refuse to seek help. When asked, they believe they will receive the help they need but are also afraid of being treated differently, losing the trust of their leadership and having their career negatively impacted. The Navy Sailor Assistance and Intercept for Life (SAIL) exists to help Sailors who are struggling with suicidal ideations and to end the stigma surrounding mental health.

The Expeditionary Sea Base USS Hershel “Woody” Williams (ESB 4) conducted a scheduled port visit Feb. 26 – March 4, 2022 at Naval Station Rota, Spain. During the visit, logisticians assigned to Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center Sigonella (NAVSUP FLCSI) Site Rota and their mission partners delivered fuel, provisions, mail and cargo to the ship.
