Defense News in Brief: Commander, Naval Air Forces to Host 1st-ever Naval Aviation Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Summit

In November of 2020 Task Force One Navy (TF1N), released its report addressing the issues of racism, sexism and other destructive biases and their impact on naval readiness and provided “nearly 60 recommendations meant to enhance the Navy’s overall diversity and ensure that a culture of inclusivity is evident at every command.” Commander Naval Air Forces (CNAF) incorporated these findings into a new strategic plan for targeting cultural change in Naval Aviation. One such initiative is the ground breaking design and implementation of the inaugural CNAF Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Summit to be held November 1-2, 2021, in San Diego.

Defense News in Brief: CURV 21 – Remotely Operated Vehicle

Orion and CURV-21 can be combined into a single integrated search & recovery system capable of being deployed on a USNS T-ATF. The system is based on a .680 fiber-optic umbilical cable and a shared handling system that can switch at sea between side-scan sonar and ROV operations. The system is self-contained and fly-away transportable for worldwide response on vessels of opportunity.
